The Kayapo is an indigenous tribe of the Brazilian rainforest who's body adornments traditionally include piercings, and extensive all over body painting. Quite inspiring if you ask me.
Interested in one day sculpting for animation production and toy manufacture. This is a pictorial ramble of my creative efforts.

found object arrangement
I had previously done a project where I disassembled donated goods and constructed an Ikebana (Japanese flower) arrangement from the discarded pieces. Something about re-purposing refuse, appeals to me. Making a thing of beauty from nothing more than trash is my favorite kind of puzzle.
The materials used were: clock, receipt tape, phone charger cables, electrical tape, copper wire, mini blinds, a violin, and a page from a wildlife calender. |

Portrait bust
I think the title speaks for itself on this one. I can't wait for my next portrait class, working with models is such a challenge I'd like more of an opportunity to do so.
Sign
I figured I'd share some digital art as well. The following design was made for submission to a local neighborhood named Cabbagetown. They were in need of a new welcome sign, and being a former resident, I jumped at the chance. It is inspired by the neighborhood skyline, their local chili cook off, and the fire and tornado that had almost destroyed the neighborhood at various times. I took symbols that are meaningful to the people that reside there, and added them to a character design (because BELIEVE me, there are some serious characters that live there).

Commission
I finished a commission based on my Ganesha figure recently. The client was thrilled, and I have to admit, it's becoming one of my favorites.
Follow up
So last summer, I made a totem pole for the Kids at Camp Will-a-way (http://www.camptwinlakes.org/locations/willaway.html) a summer camp for children with disabilities. Standing at 10' tall, these guys sit close to the amphitheater, where the talking stick can be passed around to assure everyone is given a chance to be heard. It was made from a donated telephone pole! I made a HUGE mess..and loved every second of it. It will be on camp for the next 10 years.

Battle Royale!
The annual Dia De Los Muertos show at Young Blood Gallery is probably one of favorite group shows to participate in. I tend to stick with the folk art aspect with Dia De Los Muertos pieces, but with my own flair. How can you NOT love Luchadors? It sold pretty quickly, so at least someone else shared my enthusiasm.

DRAGON CON!!
In honor of this years 25th anniversary of Dragon Con...
This only stands about 4 1/4" tall, so you can imagine the eye strain it took to do that "Popsicle". Finished in time to go get my geek on.
